It’s me! Hi! I’m the arranger. It’s me.

I’m Allyson. If you don’t know who I am, take a second to read my About page, then come back.

You back? Good, it’s so good to see you!

Like you just learned, I’ve been arranging for over a decade now, but I’m only just now marketing myself as an arranger. What’s up with that? Why now? What changed?

For the longest time, I didn’t think I would ever put my arrangements up for sale. I have a software career with good bones, so I don’t need a side hustle. In fact, quite the opposite, I hoped to leverage my financial privilege to offer my artistic talents at little to no cost, only pricing works as necessary to ensure non-male arrangers like myself weren’t undervalued in the market. I do this for the love of it, not for the money.

While I’m still not money-driven, I am recognition-driven. When I do something, I want people to know I did it. It’s me. Hi.

In 2023, after 10 years of arranging, I finally got a recording of someone performing my arrangement. It was me, hi, but still — I’m still thrilled about it! I’m so glad the world can hear my work at last.

Unfortunately, no one has a way to find out it was my work. My arrangement was performed in a festival that received no arranging credits on YouTube. Even then, when the festival organizer wrote magazine blurbs after the fact about each performer, they asked rhetorically “Who’s the arranger?” — and only cited the other arranger. (No disrespect to my amazingly talented colleague Will Lynch, of course — you can check out his work here.)

I’ve decided I deserve to shine, too. After all, it’s me! Hi! I’m the arranger. It’s me.

I’ll use this site to market my work, accept solicitations and blog about my musings as I arrange.

I’m dedicated to creating modern, accessible a cappella performance art. Contact me if that sounds cool to you.
